Meet the Supervisors and Staff of the Columbiana SWCD:

 

Jeremy Kohler

Jeremy and his wife Christine live on Lynchburg Road in West Township.  Jeremy and his father Mark Kohler run a beef cow/calf operation where they raise alfalfa and small grain crops.  In addition, Jeremy works for the Kohler Oilfield Service.  Jeremy has been involved with the SWCD through the development of a heavy use protection area, access roads, and spring developments. Jeremy is also a member of Farm Bureau.

 

Bryan Hays

Bryan lives on McCann Road in Hanover Township. 

Bryan, his dad, Bob, and grandfather, Paul own and operate Jan-Paul Farms, Inc.  They milk 100 cows and farm about 500 acres consisting of 190 acres of alfalfa, 190 acres of corn, 70 acres of oats, and 50 acres of soybeans.  The corn and soybeans are planted all no-till.  The family farm has been involved with conservation practices  such as an access road, stream exclusion fence and covered manure storage.

Bryan is also a member of Farm Bureau.

 

 

Rhonda Simmons

Rhonda Simmons and her husband Paul have four children and live in Unity Township.  Rhonda along with the members of the Simmons family run Peace Valley Orchards, Inc.   The business consists of 271 acres of apples, peaches, plums, pears, nectarines, cantaloupes, watermelon, small vegetables and squash.  They sell their crops at the retail market and some wholesale. Rhonda is a member of Farm Bureau, on the parent advisory and superintendent advisory committees at Crestview High School, a member of the Columbiana County Rabbit and Poultry Committee and a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheren Church. 

 

Tom Butch

Tom Butch and his wife live in Perry Township.  Tom has been a Mineral Resource Inspector with ODNR for 20 years.  He is a member of the St. Paul’s Church, Leetonia Sportsman Club, and the Columbiana County Conservation Club.  He is also a hunter education instructor and a program director for the Columbiana County Park District.  He is also serving on the Columbiana County Planning Commission. 

 

 

Glenn Whiteleather

Glenn and his family operate Whiteleather Farms on Bayard Road in West Township.  They currently milk 325 Holsteins and raise corn, hay, wheat, and soybeans on 1,570 acres.  Glenn is a member of Farm Bureau and the Saint John’s Lutheran Church.  He has 5 children and one granddaughter.

 

 

 

The board members (supervisors) are elected to a three-year term as public officials and serve without pay.  The board sets goals that help local citizens complete conservation work.

 

The public is invited to attend our board meetings on the second Monday of each month.  The regular board meeting schedule is listed below.  If you want to be put on a call list for special meetings, please contact the office.
